UltraTechCement, India's largest cement company, has expanded its capacity in Andhra Pradesh with its Petnikota Cement Works, a state-of-the-art integrated cement plant built at an investment of around Rs2,650 crore.

The plant is at Petnikota village in Kolimigundla mandal of Nandyal district, in the Rayalaseema region.

The plant will provide direct employment to 650 people and indirect employment to 2,000 more. It has a clinkerisation capacity of 3.3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and a cement dispatch capacity of 3.6 MTPA. Construction began in May 2025.

Minister for HRD, IT & Electronics Nara Lokesh said: "From groundbreaking to commissioning in just 14 months! UltraTech, India's largest cement company, has expanded its capacity in Andhra Pradesh with its Rs2,650 crore Petnikota Cement Works in Nandyal district."

He said It's a state-of-the-art plant with zero groundwater use, built to run on 100 per cent green energy, and it creates 2,650 direct and indirect jobs. This is the speed of doing business in AP!"

The plant will have a 35 MW hybrid wind and solar energy system with battery storage, a 20 MW waste heat recovery system. It is designed to run on 100 per cent green energy, with no captive thermal power plant.

The project will have zero groundwater use, through conservation and recycling, an alternative fuel system that uses plastic and municipal waste, electric vehicles for mining and clinker transport and covered raw material sheds, concrete roads across operational areas and an extensive green belt.

It will roll out composite cement made using slag and fly ash. It will have a

fully automated robotic laboratory with auto-sampling and analysis, a cross-belt analyser and automatic hot meal analysis for real-time process optimisation.

Combining digital automation, renewable energy and sustainable manufacturing, Petnikota Cement Works is set to be one of India's most modern and environmentally responsible cement plants.
