ChiefMinister A Revanth Reddy has announced that all vacant posts in the Telangana Police Department will be filled by 2028. He also announced that the ex-gratia paid to the families of Home Guards who die in the line of duty will be enhanced from Rs5 lakh to Rs10 lakh.

Addressing the Police Commemoration Parade in Hyderabad on Wednesday, the Chief Minister directed Director General of Police CV Anand to take the necessary steps to implement the enhanced ex-gratia amount for Home Guards who lose their lives while performing their duties.

Stating that the government had already issued a notification to fill 5,000 vacancies in the Police Department, Revanth Reddy reiterated its commitment to filling all vacant posts by 2028.

He said the recruitment of 112 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) was unprecedented in the history of Telangana.

The government was also appointing transgender persons as traffic assistants, an initiative aimed at enhancing their self-respect and dignity in society, he said.

The Chief Minister called upon police personnel to handle cases involving women and children with greater sensitivity and ensure that justice was not delayed. Ensuring women's safety was not the sole responsibility of the police, and every individual in society had a role to play in protecting women, he said.

Expressing concern over the growing drug menace, Revanth Reddy urged the police to ensure that young people did not fall prey to drug abuse. He commended the Eagle Force for its efforts to curb drug trafficking and appreciated the DGP's initiatives in tackling the menace.

Stressing that the maintenance of law and order was crucial for the State's development, the Chief Minister said the government was according top priority to strengthening the Police Department. Modern technology was being deployed to enhance policing capabilities and address emerging challenges, he added.

Revanth Reddy said the police must continue to serve as a pillar of safety and security for the people, assuring them that the government remained committed to the welfare of police personnel and their families.

"Let us honour the sacrifices of our martyrs and carry forward their vision. Together, let us build a peaceful, secure and prosperous Telangana," he said.

Paying tributes to police personnel who had laid down their lives in the line of duty, the Chief Minister recalled the sacrifices of Dev Singh, Pramod Kumar and Gajula Soumya.
