EveryoneMust Act Responsibly to Prevent Pollution of Water Bodies Public Participation Essential for Environmental Protection 2,000 Clay Ganesha Idols to Be Distributed Free of Cost

Jagtial District Collector B. Satyaprasad has urged people to use eco-friendly clay Ganesha idols instead of idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) as part of efforts to protect the environment.

The Collector on Thursday released wall posters created by the Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) to create awareness among the public about environmental protection. The posters were released at his chamber in the Integrated District Collectorate. Speaking on the occasion, Collector B Satyaprasad called upon people to use eco-friendly Ganesha idols during the Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations. He said immersion of Plaster of Paris idols could pollute reservoirs, lakes, ponds and other water bodies.

He stated that using clay idols would help protect water resources and the environment. The Collector emphasised that environmental protection was not the responsibility of government departments alone and called upon everyone to become a stakeholder in protecting the environment. He urged people to celebrate Vinayaka Chavithi with devotion while also ensuring that the festivities remain environmentally friendly.

The Collector said that 2,000 clay Ganesha idols would be distributed free of cost to encourage eco-friendly Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations. He urged people to make use of the opportunity and opt for clay idols.

He directed the concerned officials to create widespread awareness among the public about the use of clay idols and take necessary measures to ensure that immersion activities are conducted in an eco-friendly manner without causing pollution to water bodies.

He said that collective efforts by every individual towards environmental protection would help provide future generations with a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.
