Ina major crackdown on narcotics smuggling, Nizamabad police have attached properties valued at around Rs 3.02 crore linked to an interstate Alprazolam trafficking ring.

Moving beyond routine arrests, law enforcement shifted focus toward dismantling the monetary benefits generated through drug sales in connection with Crime Number 127/2025 registered at Nizamabad Rural police station.

Out of five persons booked under the NDPS Act, four individuals were arrested alongside the recovery of 1.087 kilograms of Alprazolam, two cars, five mobile phones, and Rs 3.50 lakh in cash. Investigation stretching over a year revealed that the psychotropic substance was being transported from Rajasthan through Maharashtra to Nizamabad and Nirmal districts in small batches. The contraband was sold locally at rates ranging between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 5 lakh per kilogram.

Profits accrued from the illicit trade were diverted into acquiring agricultural plots, vacant lands, vehicles, and bank deposits.

Properties identified as acquired through drug money include 4.20 acres of agricultural land, 667 square yards of vacant plots, two cars, a two-wheeler, and around Rs 5 lakh deposited across bank accounts belonging to key accused Gandham Srinivas Goud, Botla Katamaiah Goud, and their family members. Procedural measures for property attachment were executed through the competent authority under Section 68F(2) of the NDPS Act following coordination with various government departments.

Nizamabad Police Commissioner P Sai Chaitanya stated that technical analysis of mobile phone records and inter-district police coordination played a crucial role in gathering evidence regarding the money trail. He emphasised that financial inquiries will continue to track the origin and utilization of drug proceeds, while encouraging the public to share information on narcotics trafficking via Dial 112 or local police stations.
