ANational Lok Adalat will be held on September 12 at 44 Benches across East Godavari, Kakinada, Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema and Polavaram districts, District Principal Judge and District Legal Services Authority chairman Junaid Ahmed Maulana said on Thursday. He said wide publicity was being given to the Lok Adalat through ministry and government department websites and digital platforms to create awareness among the public about its purpose, benefits and the types of disputes that could be settled through the forum.

The National Legal Services Authority has been undertaking various programmes under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, to promote access to justice and create awareness about legal services and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, he said. Lok Adalats play an important role in providing an accessible, speedy and inexpensive forum for settlement of disputes through mutual consent, he said. Cases that are suitable for settlement can be resolved in an amicable atmosphere, helping parties avoid prolonged litigation and expenses, he added. Legal services authorities were taking steps to educate people about the procedure and benefits of Lok Adalats and encourage them to make use of the facility.

Junaid Ahmed Maulana appealed to people to utilise the National Lok Adalat being conducted on September 12 and come forward to settle eligible disputes through mutual agreement.
