The Sikh Coalition, a US-based civil rights organisation advocating for Sikh Americans, criticised the poster, saying it reinforces stereotypes about Sikh Americans and portrays members of the community as outsiders.

"Millions of Sikhs in the United States have the last name Singh, which means lion. We remain fearless in identifying as Sikhs—even when our government portrays us as enemies," the organisation wrote in a post on X.

Sikh Americans are also a significant presence in the US trucking industry. Industry advocacy groups have estimated that Sikh drivers make up a sizeable share of the country's long-haul truck-driving workforce.
