Retired IAS officer S.C.L. Das has taken charge as the Chairman of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC), with Delhi Power Minister Ashish Sood administering the oath of office and secrecy to him on Thursday.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Power Minister’s office in the national capital. Congratulating Das on assuming the new responsibility, Sood expressed confidence that his extensive administrative experience would contribute significantly to strengthening Delhi’s power sector and improving the functioning of the regulatory body.

Sood said the Delhi government gives the highest priority to transparency, accountability and protection of consumer interests in the power sector. He added that Das’s extensive administrative background and expertise are expected to further enhance the effectiveness of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The DERC has a key role in regulating Delhi’s electricity sector, protecting the interests of consumers and overseeing important matters related to electricity distribution. With Das taking charge as its Chairman, the commission is expected to continue focusing on effective regulation and consumer-centric functioning of the power sector in the capital.
