A truck created panic on National Highway-65 (NH-65) after its brakes reportedly failed, causing it to ram into two lorries parked near Durgapuram Stage in Kodad mandal on Thursday. The truck later lost control and overturned on the highway. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. According to police and locals, the accident occurred when a lorry carrying a load of cement from Deccan Cement Factory was heading towards Vizianagaram. When it reached Durgapuram Stage, the vehicle’s brakes reportedly failed. Although the driver tried to bring the lorry under control, he was unable to do so. The speeding lorry’s crash created impact that caused considerable damage to both stationary vehicles. The lorry responsible for the accident subsequently overturned on the highway.

Fortunately, a major tragedy was narrowly averted as there was nobody inside the parked lorries at the time; the drivers had stepped out for lunch.

Meanwhile, the accident briefly disrupted traffic movement on the highway. With the overturned lorry and the damaged vehicles lying along the roadside, motorists had to slow down while passing the spot, resulting in temporary traffic congestion. On receiving information, police personnel reached the spot and inspected the scene. They began collecting details regarding the accident and the extent of damage to the vehicles. Preliminary information indicated that brake failure was the likely cause of the accident.
