BJP State general secretary Virender Goud stated that September 17 is a pivotal day in Telangana’s history. Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Goud noted that although the country gained independence on August 15 the Hyderabad State remained under the Nizam’s rule. “The struggle waged by people against the Nizam and the Razakars culminating in ‘Operation Polo’ led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel resulted in merger of Hyderabad State into the Union on September 17, 1948. September 17 is not merely a date but a symbol of the courage, sacrifice, and struggle of people. It is everyone’s responsibility to convey the sacrifices of martyrs in the liberation struggle to future generations,” he said.

Goud mentioned that September 17 holds another special significance. Various service activities would be organised on a large scale this month, as the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi coincides with Vishwakarma Jayanti.

He appealed to voters regarding the ongoing SIR process; voters who receive notices should not ignore them but contact officials and respond appropriately within the stipulated timeframe; advised those who receive notices to complete the formalities.
