BRSLP Deputy Leader T Harish Rao accused the Congress government on Thursday of failing to utilize available Krishna River water, thereby failing to protect Telangana farmers. Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao asserted that the current crisis is not a natural calamity but a government-induced drought resulting from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy administrative failure. He alleged that despite claiming to be a son of Palamuru, Revanth Reddy is betraying the region by failing to lift available river water.

Harish Rao alleged that the state government remains a silent spectator while Andhra Pradesh draws water, ignoring weather agency warnings regarding potential El Nino impacts. He highlighted operational failures across major lift irrigation projects, noting that the Kalwakurthy project Ellur pump house operates only two of its five motors intermittently. Similarly, he questioned why Bhima operates only one of three motors, Nettampadu operates one of four, and Koilsagar runs just one of three. He questioned whether the administration is aiding Andhra Pradesh in drawing water through Veligonda and Pothireddypadu. Harish Rao recalled that while Kalwakurthy irrigated only 13,000 acres for nearly 30 years, BRS governance expanded its coverage to 3.07 lakh acres.

Demanding immediate corrective action, Harish Rao urged the government to halt the diversion of Telangana rightful Krishna water share to Andhra Pradesh. He called for an immediate Apex Council meeting if necessary to safeguard state water rights and demanded that all pump motors across Palamuru, Kalwakurthy, Bhima, Nettampadu, and Koilsagar projects be switched on fully without delay. Concluding his remarks, Harish Rao emphasized that state farmers require immediate water release rather than administrative excuses, urging the government to end its negligence and act swiftly to protect agricultural interests across Telangana.
