Anti-Corruption Bureau officials arrested an outsourcing employee of the Revenue department in the Secretariat and a senior assistant of the Telangana State Industrial Development Corporation on Thursday for accepting bribes to process Chief Minister Relief Fund payments.

The trapped officials were identified as Anandeshi Raghavender, an outsourcing employee in the Revenue department at the Secretariat, and Medi Vinod, a senior assistant based at Parishrama Bhavan in Basheerbagh.

According to bureau officials, enforcement teams conducted raids at the Secretariat on Thursday and caught the accused red handed while accepting a Rs 1 lakh bribe from the complainant. The illicit payment was demanded as official favour to process and release Rs 2 lakh in funds previously sanctioned under the relief fund.

Investigators revealed that the accused had also accepted an advance bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant via PhonePe to initiate fund release procedures. Anti Corruption Bureau personnel recovered the physical bribe money, which yielded positive results during chemical testing.

The arrested officials were taken into custody and subsequently produced before the designated court for judicial remand as investigations into digital transactions continue.
