TelanganaState BJP President N Ramachander Rao strongly condemned the Congress government on Thursday for resorting to police brutality and a lathicharge on polytechnic students protesting against GO 97 at Ramanthapur Polytechnic College. In an official statement, Ramachander Rao described the visuals emerging from the college as deeply disturbing and condemnable.

Expressing shock, he noted that the Congress administration, which frequently speaks about its Mohabbat Ki Dukaan, unleashed police force on innocent students simply for raising their voices against GO 97. He emphasized that student concerns are valid, particularly amid serious apprehensions regarding government intentions to illegally transfer polytechnic college lands for real estate interests.

The BJP state chief alleged that the government appears hell-bent on utilizing police force to silence students rather than listening to their genuine concerns and resolving issues. He lamented that students who should be in classrooms building their futures are instead forced onto the streets to face police batons. Criticizing Congress political posturing, Ramachander Rao remarked that while the party claims to safeguard student rights and preaches democracy in BJP-ruled states, it repeatedly unleashes police force on questioning students wherever it holds power.

Highlighting that the Ramanthapur incident is not isolated, Ramachander Rao pointed out that polytechnic students across Telangana have been protesting proposed college mergers under GO 97 for several weeks. He stated that whether through massive pending fee reimbursement dues affecting 40 lakh students, poor hostel conditions, or polytechnic grievances, the government has displayed apathy, arrogance, and insensitivity. Reminding the administration that students are not criminals but the future of Telangana, Ramachander Rao declared that the state BJP stands firmly with the polytechnic students.
