SRM University-AP here recently hosted a delegation from Springer Nature to outline a newly signed Open Access agreement designed to expand the global reach of its academic output and remove financial barriers for local scholars.

Organised by the University Central Library and opened by University Librarian Dr A Janakiraman, the session drew 156 students, research scholars, and faculty. The visiting delegation included Springer Nature representatives Rajneesh Appayya, Licensing Manager; Neeraj Karandikar, Account Development and Events Manager; and Morla Kamakshaiah, Account Manager.

As per the agreement, SRM-AP will cover the Article Processing Charge (APC) on behalf of its authors, ensuring research is published openly without financial strain on individual faculty or scholars. The agreement provides immediate, unrestricted public access to published work. Highly accessible research under this model typically receives nearly 1.5 times more citations than paywalled articles. Authors can publish across a vast portfolio of journals, including BMC, Springer, Scientific Reports, and Nature Partner Journals.
