TheTelugu Desam Party on Wednesday sought to turn the third anniversary of N Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest into a political campaign, recalling his 53-day incarceration and asserting that the episode had strengthened the party’s bond with the people. TDP national working president and IT Minister Nara Lokesh lit 53 candles at Chandrababu’s Undavalli residence to mark the 53 days the TDP chief spent in prison following his arrest three years ago.

The party described the arrest as politically motivated and alleged that the case was orchestrated by the then YSRCP government out of political vendetta. TDP leaders and supporters across the state observed the day by lighting candles under the slogan ‘truth has triumphed” and expressing solidarity with Chandrababu.

Lokesh said Chandrababu, who had spent five decades in public life upholding political values, had emerged from the cases without being tainted. He compared his political journey after the episode to ‘a washed pearl’ and attributed his resilience to the support of crores of Telugu people across the world. Continued on Page 7
