Toensure the safety of over one lakh daily pilgrims, Tirupati district police have launched an intensive night-time security operation across the holy city and surrounding areas. District SP L Subba Rayudu personally led the drive on Tuesday night, conducting surprise inspections at critical locations to assess ground-level deployments, vehicle checks, and night patrols.

With high pilgrim footfall continuing long after sunset, special police teams now operate from 10 pm onwards, focusing on area domination, monitoring suspicious movements, and conducting random vehicle checks across Tirupati, Chandragiri, and key adjoining zones. Each zone is directly managed by a DSP reporting to the Additional SP, with real-time tracking coordinated through the district’s central command and control room to allow rapid deployment.

The security sweep targets sensitive installations, digital infrastructure sites, gathering spots, and late-night commercial venues operating past permitted hours. Police have also set up dedicated checkpoints to crack down on drunk driving, enforcing strict legal action against offenders who pose a threat to late-traveling devotees.

Key transit hubs and high-footfall locations—including the RTC Bus Stand, Railway Station area, Alipiri, TVS Showroom junction, Group Theatre, and Leela Mahal—were thoroughly inspected under the ground execution of Additional SP Ravi Manoharachari, DSP Bhaktavatsalam, and Alipiri CI Ram Kishore.

Emphasising that devotee safety remains the department’s top priority, SP Subba Rayudu stated that officers are working around the clock to maintain a secure environment. He warned that continuous surveillance is active throughout the city, and strict action will be taken against anyone threatening public safety or disrupting order.
