APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Siva Sankar Lotheti announced measures to strengthen power supply infrastructure in Kuppam Rural Electric Co-operative Society (RESCO) area to meet rising electricity demand. Addressing a review meeting with DISCOM and RESCO officials here on Wednesday, the CMD said special focus is being given to develop infrastructure for providing better and quality power to consumers in Kuppam constituency, the Chief Minister’s constituency. Emphasis is also being placed on promoting renewable energy.

Lotheti informed that rooftop solar systems have already been installed for SC and ST domestic consumers in Kuppam as per the government directions. Works are underway to install solar systems on 39,215 BC consumer households with monthly consumption below 200 units.

To ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply, 10 new 33/11 kV substations have been sanctioned in Kuppam constituency during the past year. Construction of seven substations is completed, while work on the remaining three is in progress. Efforts are underway to complete all RDSS scheme works at the earliest, he said. The CMD also directed officials to expedite feeder-level solarisation works under PM-KUSUM scheme across nine districts. Solar parks with 751 MW capacity are being established at 146 locations, with land acquisition completed at 138 sites. Directors P Ayub Khan and K Guravaiah, SE S Amar Babu, RESCO MD S Soma Sekhar and others attended the meeting.
