ChiefMinister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that the NDA coalition government was committed to ensuring people's rights over their land and resolving long-pending land disputes, while asserting that governance should reach people and improve their lives.

Addressing the "Mee Bhoomi-Mee Hakku" programme at Machavaram in BR Ambedkar Konaseema district, the Chief Minister said his government was giving high priority to water and land as they were vital for people's lives and livelihoods. "If water is life, land is livelihood. That is why the NDA coalition government is giving high priority to both these programmes," he said.

Naidu said his government would not indulge in “political revenge” despite the alleged harassment he and several leaders faced during the previous YSR Congress regime, asserting that his focus was on rebuilding the state and improving the lives of its people.

Addressing a public meeting at Panduvaripeta in P Gannavaram constituency during the Mee Bhoomi-Mee Hakku programme, Naidu recalled his arrest in Nandyal three years ago and said the September 9 incident remained a painful chapter in his political life. "I could have taken revenge in one minute after becoming Chief Minister, but I did not do it. I have patience. My objective is to ensure justice for the Telugu people," he said.

Naidu said he had been in politics for 48 years and became Chief Minister for the first time 31 years ago. He claimed that he had faced several allegations and court cases but none of the charges against him could be proved. His political journey, he said, was driven by the objective of following values and working for the poor and the Telugu people. Recalling his arrest, Naidu said police had arrived late at night while he was in Nandyal and informed him that he would be arrested. When he sought details of the charges, he was allegedly told that they would be explained after the arrest. He was subsequently shifted to Rajamahendravaram Central Jail. He said the arrest triggered protests among Telugu people across the country and abroad. IT professionals in Hyderabad also came out in support, while Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan faced restrictions when he attempted to express solidarity with him, Naidu said. He claimed that several cases filed by the previous government were later dismissed by courts.
