Urgingstudents to channel their energy toward education and career development, Society for Employment Generation and Training in Rural Areas (SETKUR) CEO Dr K Venugopal called upon the youth to stay strictly away from narcotic substances.

Addressing an anti-drug awareness program organized under the aegis of Youth Services–SETKUR (Kurnool and Nandyal) at the AP Residential Junior College (Minority Boys) on Wednesday, Dr Venugopal highlighted that youth represent the nation’s most vital human resource.

Warning that substance abuse degrades physical health, damages family stability, and derails educational growth, he advised students to withstand peer pressure and consult parents or teachers during personal crises rather than resorting to harmful habits.

Elaborating on the judicial framework, Excise Inspector Chandrahass cautioned students against participating in the illegal purchase, transportation, or sale of narcotics, noting that aiding drug networks carries severe legal penalties.

He urged students to act responsibly and report any suspicious drug-related activities by dialing the toll-free helpline 1972, emphasizing that timely information could save lives and safeguard families.

Adding to the address, Excise Inspector Rajendra Prasad encouraged students to utilize leisure hours constructively by participating in sports, yoga, skill development courses, and social service.

College Principal Suresh highlighted the duty of educational institutions in instilling moral values, health consciousness, and discipline among youth.

Calling for a united front involving parents, educators, and government agencies to eradicate substance abuse, SETKUR officials, Excise Department personnel, faculty, and students participated actively in the anti-drug drive.
