TheTelangana Legislative Council Ethics Committee on Wednesday strongly condemned alleged remarks made by MLCs Thatha Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy against Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, terming them an unforgivable offence.

The meeting was chaired by Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy alongside MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, with MLCs Nellikanti Satyam and Deshapathi Srinivas in attendance. During deliberations, Mahesh Kumar Goud presented video footage of the alleged remarks before committee members.

A majority of members concurred that the comments were unacceptable and severely undermined legislative dignity and decorum. However, Deshapathi Srinivas raised objections during discussions, prompting the committee to defer a final decision until its next meeting following further deliberation.

The committee also discussed alleged rude behaviour by police personnel towards women MLAs during an incident near the Assembly. Members expressed serious concern over law enforcement conduct towards elected representatives, debating possible courses of action against errant officers. Following detailed deliberations, the committee decided to seek expert legal advice before proceeding further.

Panel members agreed that the precise legal position would be thoroughly examined and an appropriate course of action determined based on the formal opinion received.
