TheBJP on Wednesday announced a month-long nationwide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in constitutional public office, combining social-service activities with programmes highlighting his governance journey.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin said the campaign will run from September 17 to October 17, covering Modi’s 76th birthday on September 17 and the 25th anniversary of his taking oath as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001.

Nabin said Modi served Gujarat for nearly 13 years before becoming Prime Minister in 2014. Describing his journey from an ordinary BJP worker to the country’s “Pradhan Sevak”, he said the past 25 years had been guided by public service.

The BJP will use the campaign to highlight what it describes as India's transformation under Modi, including economic growth, the startup ecosystem, women-led development, youth empowerment and development of border villages. Nabin also cited initiatives such as Khelo India, Fit India, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Lakhpati Didi and the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. He claimed around 25 crore people have emerged from poverty during Modi’s tenure and highlighted free ration and medicines during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The campaign will begin on Modi’s birthday with blood donation camps and an ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme. A nationwide cleanliness drive will be held on October 2. Photo and digital exhibitions chronicling Modi’s 25-year political journeywill be organised, along with seminars on good governance, development and Antyodaya. Special camps will spread awareness about Central and state welfare schemes. BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde has been appointed national convenor. Seven-member teams, comprising a minister, an organisational general secretary and five senior leaders, will coordinate the campaign in each state.
