WhileEndowments Minister Konda Surekha in the eye of storm and demands are being made to remove her from the State Cabinet for her daughter’s remarks against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Konda Susmitha appears to be unperturbed.

On Friday she clarified that her political criticisms are aimed at Revanth Reddy and not the Congress party. Sushmita said she respects Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi but accused Revanth Reddy and his brothers of corruption and irregularities. “My target is Revanth Reddy, not the Congress party,” she said, adding that she questions only the Chief Minister’s style of functioning.

She also raised objections to Revanth Reddy’s apparent unilateral authority in party affairs, asking who gave him the power to announce MLA candidates. Sushmita said she objects to decisions taken single-handedly in party matters.

Sushmita further declared she is prepared to contest as an independent if necessary, and added she will not hesitate to take any step required to serve the people and pursue her political goals.

Her remarks have become a talking point in Warangal politics, particularly because she stressed that she has no differences with the Congress party itself and that her criticisms are directed solely at the chief minister’s conduct.
