Governmentchief whip and Vinukonda MLA G V Anjaneyulu strongly criticised 11 YSRCP MLAs for staying away from the Assembly sessions, alleging that they lacked the courage to face the House.

Questioning why elected representatives did not attend the Assembly to discuss public issues, Anjaneyulu said it was unfair for MLAs to draw salaries while neglecting their responsibilities towards the people. He alleged that the YSRCP MLAs had “run away” from the Assembly because they were afraid to face the government. Speaking to the media at party headquarters in Mangalagiri, he criticised them for failing to come to the Assembly, which he described as a temple of democracy, and speak on behalf of the people. He said the four-day Assembly session witnessed meaningful discussions and continued for 25 hours and 15 minutes. A total of 103 members participated in the proceedings. Had the 11 YSRCP MLAs attended, they too would have had an opportunity to raise public issues, he said. Anjaneyulu also took a dig at the YSRCP leadership over the DSC recruitment issue. He said Minister Nara Lokesh’s presentation of facts in the Assembly had left YSRCP leaders embarrassed. He described it as ironic that a person who could not distinguish between the APPSC and DSC had served as Chief Minister for five years.

He alleged that YSRCP leaders were staying away to avoid answering questions over alleged irregularities in the APPSC during the previous government. He also accused them of creating disruptions in the Legislative Council. Anjaneyulu urged YSRCP MLAs to attend the House and participate in constructive debates on public issues, stressing that elected representatives have a responsibility to present their views before the Assembly.
