A massive protest was organised here on Thursday under the banner of the Wanaparthy district Telangana Recognised Schools Management Association to strongly condemn the brutal murder of K Roopa Reddy, principal, Nagarjuna Public School in Kondamallepally (Nalgonda district). Teachers, school management representatives and TRSMA members from all mandals attended to voice their protest. They paid tribute to the portrait of Roopa Reddy and demanded the government take immediate measures to ensure safety of teachers. Representatives of the association expressed deep anguish over the heinous incident involving a teacher stating that it has deeply shaken the entire education community. They demanded a comprehensive investigation into the case to bring full facts to light.

“The teacher-student relationship is sacred. The government must take stringent measures to prevent recurring attacks and acts of violence against teachers. A special law designed to ensure safety of teachers must be effectively implemented,” they urged.

They emphasised the need to conduct special awareness programmes in schools and colleges to foster discipline, moral values, humanity, and responsible behaviour among students. They advised parents and teachers to closely observe any changes in student behaviour and called upon people to act responsibly in ensuring that students stay away from drugs and harmful addictions.

The protestors submitted representations to the Wanaparthy collector and SP, demanding a comprehensive investigation into the murder and strict legal action against those responsible. They appealed for adequate security for teachers and educational institutions to prevent such incidents.
