Hyderabad: In a major operation, Ameerpet police seized 55 bottles of Karnataka premium and defence liquor worth around Rs 1.5 lakh and apprehended a person allegedly involved in selling the liquor illegally. According to police, the team intercepted a person carrying four liquor bottles suspiciously near the Umesh Chandra statue in SR Nagar. The bottles were identified as premium liquor from Karnataka. During questioning, the person revealed that he had purchased the liquor from K Govardhan Reddy. Based on the information, police searched Reddy’s house and seized 51 bottles of different varieties of Karnataka Defence liquor, police said.

During the investigation, Govardhan Reddy reportedly told police that he was procuring Defence liquor from Karnataka at a lower price and selling it at a profit margin of Rs 300 to Rs 500 per bottle.

A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.
