Congress hails Rajiv Gandhi as pioneer of India’s tech revolution Leaders pay tributes on his 82nd birth anniversary in Hanumakonda and recall his contribution to building modern India

Congressleaders paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi on his 82nd birth anniversary, hailing him as the pioneer of India’s technological revolution. The celebrations were organised at DCC Bhavan and MGM Centre in Hanumakonda on Thursday.

Vardhannapet MLA KR Nagaraju, MLC Baswaraju Saraiah and DCC President Inagala Venkatram Reddy, along with other leaders, garlanded Rajiv Gandhi’s portrait and statue.

Speakers said Rajiv Gandhi’s visionary decisions in the IT, telecom and computer sectors laid the foundation for modern India.

They also recalled his efforts to strengthen Panchayati Raj, promote decentralisation, enhance youth participation by lowering the voting age to 18 and encourage women’s representation in local bodies. Leaders said Rajiv Gandhi’s ideals of peace, unity and harmony continue to inspire the nation.
