Viswanath & Sons, the family entertainer starring Tamil hero Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, saw a spectacular opening after its release on August 14, 2026. The film directed by Venky Atluri has earned over Rs. 150 crore at the worldwide box office in four days. It has seen great response from the audience for its humor, sentiment, and family-centric theme.

Venky Atluri said that he is overwhelmed by appreciation for the film. The director also said Surya was immediately roped in for the project because he narrated it to him. Surya was open to doing a family entertainer at this stage in his career, said Atluri. Plus, he pushed the team to keep the narration straightforward and avoid commercialism.

The Tholiprema director stated that his idea for this project, which was conceived in 2022, was to create a film about a man turning 40 without getting married. He also noted that the film’s purpose is to explain why the protagonist behaves the way he does rather than cast him as a villain.

Furthermore, Venky Atluri stated that constructing a big house set for the film was challenging. He added that it had to be something extraordinary, and he complimented production designer Banglan and cinematographer Nimesh for their excellent work on the film.

Moreover, Atluri stated that Trivikram Srinivas saw the film and enjoyed it. He further stated that the filmmaker suggested no changes to the project after seeing it, and it was surprising because Trivikram and Mani Ratnam were Atluri’s boyhood heroes. In addition to Suriya, Venky Atluri signed Mamitha Baiju after seeing the actress in Premalu. Atluri revealed watching her perform comedy in Tamil was a treat for him. Her Tamil skills and great sense of humor made him decide to cast her in the film. In addition, it is reported that “Viswanath & Sons” have been produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Srikara Studios banner in association with Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.
