BRS leaders and workers staged a massive protest against the Telangana High Court’s stay on Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak schemes under which poor families are provided financial assistance on the occasion of their daughters’ marriage. The protesters demanded that the State government should continue the scheme for the benefit of destitute families.

Led by former MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy, they staged a road blockade on the Mahabubnagar–Srisailam main road, leading to brief tension in the area.

After the road blockade, BRS leaders and activists attempted to proceed to the RDO office to submit a memorandum. Police stopped them, resulting in a brief scuffle and pushing between the police and BRS workers.

The BRS leaders demanded that the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes be continued and that financial assistance be provided to eligible poor families. They later submitted a memorandum with their demands to the officials.
