Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police has intensified enforcement against vehicles using fake, tampered or unauthorised registration number plates following a surge in complaints.

Police registered six criminal cases over the past week against individuals allegedly using fraudulent registration plates to conceal vehicle identities, evade traffic enforcement and violate regulations. Several vehicles were identified and seized during the enforcement drive. The cases were registered at Hadnoor police station in Sangareddy district, Kalapathar, Afzalgunj, Inthezargunj in Warangal district, Kamareddy Town and Musheerabad. The Traffic Police said only government-approved High-Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) are legally permitted on vehicles. Any unauthorised alteration, missing digits, obscured characters or use of temporary stickers in place of registration plates is illegal. Officials warned that the use of fake or manipulated number plates could result in criminal prosecution and immediate seizure of the vehicle.
