TheAnti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against Desani Srinivas Reddy, a Tahsildar presently working as Divisional Administrative Officer at the Revenue Divisional Office, Ibrahimpatnam, Ranga Reddy district, with the market value of his total assets estimated at around Rs 100 crore. The case relates to alleged acquisition of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.
ACB officials conducted searches on Wednesday at his residence, office and five other locations linked to his relatives, associates and others.
During the searches, officials found documents relating to several properties. These included two residential flats at Karmanghat, including one completed and one semi-finished flat, valued at Rs 2.63 crore; a G+3 penthouse at Karmanghat, Saroornagar, valued at Rs 1.61 crore; 10 acres of agricultural land at Nallavelley village valued at Rs 25.50 lakh; and eight open plots in different parts of Hyderabad and its outskirts, valued at Rs 62.84 lakh.
The officials also found that Srinivas Reddy had invested Rs 86 lakh as his share in Narenadar Bar and Restaurant at Balapur in partnership with others. The ACB said the market value of the properties could be considerably higher than their officially recorded values.
The searches resulted in the seizure of Rs 4 lakh cash, a bank balance of Rs 8.60 lakh and 680 grams of gold ornaments valued at around Rs 5.85 lakh.
The ACB also found four-wheelers and three two-wheelers valued at approximately Rs 59 lakh, besides household articles and electronic gadgets worth around Rs 11 lakh.
Officials said Srinivas Reddy had also availed himself of a gold loan by pledging 46 tolas of gold with a bank. His registered total assets have been estimated at Rs 6.87 crore, while their open-market value is estimated at around Rs 100 crore.
The ACB said a disproportionate assets case had been registered against Srinivas Reddy and that he would be produced before the court for judicial remand. The case is under investigation, with further verification of additional assets under way.
