Hyderabad: An attempt to murder case has been registered against former OSD to Minister for Environment and Forests Konda Surekha following a complaint by a 36-year-old real estate businessman, Gongidi Harikrishna, who alleged that he was assaulted with iron rods and sticks by a group in Hyderabad.

Medipally police initially registered a Zero FIR and later transferred the case to Jubilee Hills Police Station as the incident falls under its jurisdiction. Based on Harikrishna’s complaint, police registered a case against Sumanth and five others. According to the complaint, Harikrishna received a call from Sumanth on July 30 asking him to meet him urgently. Harikrishna reportedly told him that he had returned to his native place and would meet him the following morning.

Later, Sumanth’s friend Ramu allegedly called Harikrishna and asked him to come to his office. On August 20, Harikrishna went to Ramu’s office along with his friend Kiran, where Sumanth and Ramu were present.

Harikrishna alleged that Sumanth questioned him for allegedly using his name to collect money from people. Though he denied being involved in any such collections, Sumanth allegedly abused him and attacked his hands and legs with an iron rod.

He further alleged that five others accompanying Sumanth also assaulted him. The complainant identified the alleged associates as Prashanth, Arun Kumar Reddy, Karthik and Mahender Reddy, among others, and claimed that they attacked him at Sumanth’s instigation. After receiving the complaint, Medipally police registered a Zero FIR and subsequently transferred the case to Jubilee Hills Police Station for further investigation.
