Hyderabad: A 10-floor Dr BR Ambedkar Tower will come up at Lower Tank Bund in Hyderabad, with the State government approving its construction at an estimated cost of Rs 108 crore. An official order to this effect was issued on Thursday. According to the order, the Ambedkar Tower will be constructed on the premises of the existing Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan at Lower Tank Bund. The building is in a dilapidated condition and has remained unused for the past 12 years.

A consultancy will be appointed to prepare and finalise the design and other details of the proposed tower. The government has already made a provision of Rs 25 crore in the Budget estimates for the current financial year.

The Scheduled Caste Development Department has been entrusted with implementing the project.
