Vijayawada:An awareness session on the National Pension System (NPS), jointly organised by Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) and the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), was held here on Thursday with an overwhelming response from industrialists, business representatives and members of the unorganised sector.

Officials from PFRDA and SBI Pension Funds explained the features, investment options, tax benefits and other advantages of NPS, and highlighted its importance in building a long-term retirement corpus.

Speaking at the programme, RV Swamy, president, Andhra Pradesh Star Hotels Association, appealed to the public, particularly those in the business and unorganised sectors, to make use of NPS and take advantage of the opportunity to plan for a financially secure retirement. Among others, Potluri Bhaskara Rao, president, AP Chambers, B. Rajasekhar, executive vice President and Ravuri Subbarao, general secretary, addressed. They stressed the need for greater awareness of retirement planning and wider coverage of NPS among employees, self-employed persons, entrepreneurs,and workers in the unorganised sector.
