ChoppadandiMLA and Karimnagar District Congress president Medipalli Satyam urged the district administration to take precautionary measures to prevent inconvenience to farmers and the public amid widespread rainfall across the district.

Satyam, along with Congress leaders, met District Collector Chitra Mishra at the Collectorate on Friday and sought measures to prevent seasonal diseases, ensure timely distribution of fertilisers and repair damaged roads in rural and urban areas.

The Collector responded positively and assured them that necessary steps would be taken in coordination with officials of all concerned departments. Speaking to the media, Satyam said the recent rains had brought relief to farmers who had been worried about drought conditions following the El Niño effect. He said agricultural activity had picked up, with farmers resuming ploughing and paddy transplantation, and congratulated the farming community.

Taking a dig at the BRS, the MLA alleged that its leaders had hoped drought conditions would create difficulties for farmers and politically benefit the party. He said the timely rains had proved such expectations wrong. He claimed that the Sripada Yellampally Project and SRSP Flood Flow Canal were currently helping meet the water requirements of farmers in Telangana.

Referring to the recent Kondagattu Maha Giripradakshina, Satyam said Congress leaders had undertaken the programme seeking abundant rainfall and the welfare of farmers and the public. He criticised BRS leaders for ridiculing the spiritual programme and said it was conducted with a sincere intention for the welfare of the region.

District Congress vice-president Purumalla Manohar, District Youth Congress president Muthyam Shankar and others accompanied Satyam.
