IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said that the state government’s aim is to provide quality medical services to people in remote areas.

He announced that the dilapidated Mahadevpur Community Hospital will be rebuilt with modern facilities, and that another free health camp will be held on August 4.

On Friday, the minister inaugurated a free cancer and eye screening medical camp conducted under the supervision of doctors from MNJ Hospital Hyderabad and Omega Hospital Karimnagar.

On the occasion, he said that a plan is being prepared to conduct special tests across the state to protect women from cervical cancer. He said such camps are being organised with the intention of detecting the disease at an early stage and providing treatment without financial burden on the poor.

He said that through the Health ATM, it will be possible to carry out 64 types of medical tests quickly, and health cards will be provided so that test details are securely stored for five years. He also revealed that modern equipment for ECG and eye tests has been made available.

The minister said the state government gives highest priority to health and education sectors and is continuing measures to provide better medical services even in rural areas. He promised to modernize and rebuild Mahadevpur Government Hospital to deliver improved services to the public.

For public convenience, he said another free health camp will be held on August 4 under the aegis of MNJ Hospital. He urged everyone to make good use of this opportunity and get health checkups done, and asked officials to go door-to-door to raise awareness among people.

He revealed that under the Katam Division so far free eye operations have been performed for 680 people in Hyderabad restoring their sight, and that 45,000 people in Manthani constituency have received eye treatments.

He said such public welfare programs will be carried out on a larger scale in the future.
