Bhogapuram’sAlluri Sitarama Raju International Airport will emerge as the economic growth engine of North Andhra over the next decade, said Rajya Sabha MP Sana Satish Babu.

In a statement on Friday, he described the airport’s inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a historic milestone that will accelerate investment, employment, exports, tourism and infrastructure development across the region.

Built at a cost of nearly Rs 5,000 crore over 2,200 acres, the airport is expected to anchor a world-class Aerocity with IT parks, logistics hubs, hotels, educational institutions and commercial centres. Its strategic connectivity with Visakhapatnam and Gangavaram Ports, national highways and future rail links will strengthen exports from seafood, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and MSMEs. The airport will also boost tourism by improving access to Araku Valley, Borra Caves, Lambasingi and other attractions. With sustained policy support, Bhogapuram has the potential to transform North Andhra into one of India’s fastest-growing investment and commercial hubs, he added.
