Constructionof a long-pending compound wall at the PM SHRI Zilla Parishad High School in Nunna, one of the largest government schools in the erstwhile Krishna district and the State, has finally commenced with the support of donors and alumni. The project, estimated at Rs 29 lakh, is progressing at a brisk pace under the direct supervision of the high school old students.

The eastern and northern compound walls of the school, built several years ago, had deteriorated over time, leaving the campus and its assets vulnerable. Recognising the need for improved security, the school’s Alumni Association took the initiative to mobilise funds from philanthropists and former students to complete the long-pending compound wall.

As part of the initiative, Nunna-based philanthropist and senior citizen Guntaka Nageswara Reddy donated Rs 5 lakh, which was formally handed over to the school’s Headmaster Surapaneni Ravi Prasad by NTR District Joint Collector S Ilakkiya. Several other donors also came forward to contribute towards the remaining project cost.

To ensure quality and durability, members of the Alumni Association are personally supervising the construction. On Friday, donor Guntaka Nageswara Reddy, Headmaster Surapaneni Ravi Prasad, Alumni Association representative Naredla Satyanarayana Reddy, and Secretariat Engineering Assistant Bangaru Raju inspected the ongoing works

Speaking on the occasion, Naredla Satyanarayana Reddy said the alumni had already contributed more than Rs.1 crore towards the school’s development over the years.
