Guntur:Three students residing at Government BC Girl Students Welfare Hostel here fell ill after taking iron pills on Friday.

They suffered from vomiting and stomach pain. They were shifted to the GGH-Guntur for treatment. Their health is stable and out of danger.

Minister for BCs Welfare S Savitha spoke to GGH superintendent Dr Durga Prasad over phone and inquired about the health condition of the three girl students undergoing treatment.

He dismissed the rumours in speculation that the girl students fell ill due to food poisoning.

They fell ill due to the reaction of iron pills. She directed the doctors to render better medical services to the girl students undergoing treatment at the GGH.

She inquired about the health condition of the remaining students in the hostel.

She further said in case of need conduct a health camp at the hostel for the convenience of the inmates of the hostel and take steps to keep hostel building surroundings clean. She instructed the officials to supply boiled and cooled water to the students and freshly prepared food.

Speaking to ‘The Hans India’, Deputy Director of BC Welfare, Guntur district, K Mayuri said iron pills were administered to 141 students, out of which three girl students studying Class IX suffered from vomiting and stomach pain.
