Twomigrant labourers from Odisha died after they were allegedly struck by a speeding car near Konduru village in Tada mandal of Tirupati district on Friday morning. The deceased have been identified as Arjun Bhatara (50) and Chaitu Goud (34).

Police said the two men had stepped out and were walking along the roadside when an unidentified vehicle rammed into them, leaving them critically injured.

Locals rushed to their aid and immediately alerted police. The injured workers were shifted to Government Hospital in Sullurupeta in 108 ambulance for emergency treatment. However, doctors declared them dead despite efforts to save them.

Preliminary investigation suggests the accident occurred when the victims had gone out to attend nature’s call. The vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene soon after the collision.

A case has been registered, and police have launched an investigation into the incident. Officials are examining available evidence to identify the offending vehicle and trace the driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run.
