TheTelangana government on Friday named the Sanathnagar TIMS after former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh Dr Marri Channa Reddy.

The government has taken several key decisions in an effort to further strengthen medical education and super-specialty medical services in the state. While the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) Sanathnagar was named after Dr Marri Channa Reddy, the government appointed Dr Narendra Kumar, who retired from the post of the Director of Medical Education (DME) on Friday, as the in-charge director. Dr N Vani has been appointed as the new DME in place of Narendra Kumar. The government issued separate orders regarding these three decisions on Friday.

According to the officials, the government decided to name the TIMS after Dr Marri Channa Reddy keeping in view, who made significant contributions to the development of the Telangana region. Henceforth, the hospital will be known as the Dr Marri Channa Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences. The government issued GO Ms No 63 to this effect.

As Dr A. Narendra Kumar retired on Friday, the State government has decided to utilise his extensive administrative experience at Sanathnagar TIMS. Through Government Order (GO Ms. No. 64), he has been appointed as the In-charge Director of Dr MCRTIMS. He is scheduled to assume charge on August 1.

The government has appointed Dr N Vani, currently serving as the Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital and Additional DME, as the Director of Medical Education (DME). The government issued GO RT No 318 to this effect. Dr Vani has prior experience serving as the DME.
