Withthousands of devotees expected to participate in the annual Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu Jatara in Secunderabad, Hyderabad Traffic Police has announced extensive traffic diversions and road closures in Secunderabad from August 2 to 4.

Traffic restrictions will be enforced within a two-km radius of the Ujjaini Mahankali Temple to ensure smooth movement of pilgrims and maintain public safety.

According to the traffic police, major congestion is expected at Karbala Maidan, Ranigunj, Paradise, CTO, Plaza, SBI X Roads, YMCA X Roads, St. John’s Rotary, Sangeeth X Road, Patny X Road, Park Lane, Bata, Ghasmandi X Roads, Bible House, Ministers Road and Rasoolpura, among other key junctions.

Several roads leading to the temple will remain closed from midnight of August 1 and 2 until 3 am on August 4, including roads from Tobacco Bazar, Hamali Statue, Subhash Road (Bata X Roads to Rocha Bazar), Hill Street via Adavaiah X Road, and General Bazar.

The traffic police appealed to the commuters to use the diversion points at Patny X Roads, Ghasmandi X Roads, Bible House, Karbala, Ranigunj and Paradise x roads to regulate traffic flow. RTC buses and other vehicles will be rerouted through alternative routes, while heavy vehicles will also be diverted away from the temple area.

To facilitate devotees, the police have arranged 14 designated parking locations across Secunderabad, including Hari Hara Kala Bhavan, Mahaboob College, CMR Shopping Mall, Old Jail Khana Grounds, Islamia High School, Adavaiah Memorial High School, Nallagutta GHMC Grounds, Wesley College, Gymkhana Ground, Swapnalok Complex and Taj Tri Star Lane, with parking capacity for thousands of two-wheelers and hundreds of four-wheelers. The traffic police appealed to commuters to plan their journeys in advance, avoid the congested temple surroundings during the festival period and use the notified diversion routes.
