	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">“BRICS is an important platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries”, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told a media briefing here.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">“China attaches great importance to and actively participates in BRICS cooperation. We support this year’s chair India in making the BRICS Summit a full success”, she said, but evaded answering a question on whether Xi would attend the meeting.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">“For (the) specifics you mentioned, I have no information to share at the moment”, she said.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">BRICS, originally comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, expanded in 2024 to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE, with Indonesia joining in 2025.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">India, the current chair of the grouping, is scheduled to hold this year’s summit on Sept 12-13.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">On this week’s visit of Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and his talks with various Chinese officials, including Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying, Mao said the two of them exchanged views on a range of issues.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">"They exchanged views on delivering on the important common understandings between the leaders of the two countries, deepening political mutual trust, advancing exchanges and cooperation in various areas, properly handling differences and disputes, and promoting the sound and steady development of China-India relations," she said.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">Misri, who was previously India's Ambassador to China, met Hua on Monday during his two-day visit to China.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">"Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami met H E Yan Dong, Member of the CPC Leadership Group of the Ministry of Commerce and Vice Minister, today. They exchanged views on enhancing bilateral trade and economic ties, including the need for sustainable trade and enhanced market access for Indian products like pharmaceuticals. Towards this end, the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation and communication," the Embassy of India in Beijing wrote on X.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">On Wednesday, Pratik Mathur, Consul General of India in Shanghai, met CPC Party Secretary Shi Huifang and discussed Shi’s recent visit to India, where he visited Delhi and Bengaluru.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">"Consul General Shri Pratik Mathur was welcomed by CPC Party Secretary HE Shi Huifang on an official visit to Shaoxing prefecture-level city in Zhejiang province today. Both sides had an engaging discussion on Party Secretary Shi’s recent visit to India, where he visited Delhi and Bengaluru," the Consulate General of India in Shanghai wrote on X.</lang>

	<lang class="3" style=".Bodylaser" font="Minion Pro" fontStyle="Regular" size="9">According to the Consulate, the Consul General thanked the city’s leadership for the support extended to the Indian athletics team during the second Asian Relay Championships last month when Indian athletes won multiple medals, highlighted by a historic gold in the 4x100 metres women’s relay event.</lang>

Earlier this week, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri paid an official visit to China, during which he held discussions with Hua Chunying, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China. They reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations and discussed means of advancing the vision of the two leaders that India and China are partners and development opportunities for each other, including through mutually beneficial outcomes across trade and economic ties, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.</lang>
