Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) In-Charge Commissioner and Additional Commissioner (General) A Ravindra Rao directed officials to ensure the regular cleaning and maintenance of compactor bins across the city to improve sanitation and prevent health hazards.

During his field inspection in Krishnalanka and Ranigari Thota areas in the city on Thursday, the Commissioner reviewed ongoing sanitation works and instructed officials to clear accumulated garbage from compactor bins without delay. He emphasised that the bins should be thoroughly cleaned both inside and outside on a regular basis to prevent foul odour and the breeding of flies and mosquitoes.

Ravindra Rao also directed sanitation staff to keep the surroundings of compactor bins clean and ensure that waste does not accumulate in the vicinity. He asked sanitation workers and contractors to work in close coordination to maintain cleanliness across the city without any disruption.

Later, the In-Charge Commissioner inspected the Anna Canteen at Ranigari Thota and reviewed food preparation, hygiene standards, drinking water facilities, kitchen maintenance and the food serving process.

He instructed officials to ensure that beneficiaries are served hygienic, nutritious and quality meals at all times by strictly adhering to prescribed food safety and cleanliness standards. In-Charge Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Gopala Naik and other municipal officials accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.
