TheAndhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) has accelerated settlement of electricity bills for grid connected rooftop solar customers.

In a press release on Thursday, APSPDCL CMD Siva Sankar Lotheti said aligning with Central and State renewable energy initiatives, the company aims to provide faster, transparent services to solar consumers who feed surplus power into the grid. He said, surplus solar units, which were earlier settled quarterly, will now be billed and settled monthly, based on import export meter readings and applicable regulations. He said APSPDCL reported that 36,963 customers across Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts have installed rooftop systems totaling 128 MW capacity. The company credited Rs 83.88 lakh to consumer bank accounts in June and Rs 68.4 lakh in July for the surplus generation. With rising household interest in rooftop solar, the CMD said it will continue improvingbilling, net metering and monthly settlement processes.
