Withheavy rains continuing to affect several parts of Telangana, State Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju has directed all government departments to remain on high alert and ensure a swift and coordinated response to any emergency. During a state-level video conference held on Thursday, the Chief Secretary, along with DGP C.V. Anand and senior officials, reviewed the prevailing rain situation with district collectors, police officers and heads of various departments.

Jaju instructed district administrations to establish 24x7 control rooms and continuously monitor weather conditions.

He said SDRF and NDRF teams have already been deployed in flood-prone districts and should remain fully prepared for rescue and relief operations.

Officials were also asked to ensure uninterrupted communication networks, identify old and unsafe buildings, and take preventive measures to avoid accidents.

The Chief Secretary stressed the need for close coordination with the Irrigation Department to monitor reservoirs, streams and tanks. He directed officials to evacuate people living in low-lying areas to safer locations in advance, review road conditions regularly and take immediate steps to prevent traffic disruptions. Departments were also instructed to prepare rapid response plans to tackle any emergency arising from heavy rainfall.

DGP C.V. Anand emphasized that district police officers must strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during relief operations. He said 12 SDRF teams have been positioned across the state, while NDRF units remain on standby for deployment wherever required. Stressing the importance of inter-departmental coordination, he said protecting lives and property must remain the top priority.

Additional Collector Bhujanga Rao, DRO Geetha and officials from the concerned departments participated in the review meeting, reaffirming the government’s commitment to achieving the goal of “Zero Casualties” during the ongoing monsoon season.
