RevenueMinister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy laid the foundation stones for several development works estimated at Rs 1.25 crore here on Thursday. He toured Mangayyabanjar, Pokalagudem, and Ravikampadu villages along with Aswaraopet MLA Jare Adinarayana and District Collector Ankit.

During his tour, the Minister inaugurated a series of local infrastructure projects. At Mangayyabanjar, he laid the foundation for gravel roads, a culvert, cement-concrete roads and a retaining wall at an estimated cost of Rs 45 lakh. He also announced 24 new Indiramma houses for the village.

At Pokalagudem, he launched four internal CC road works taken up at a cost of Rs 60 lakh. “The village had already been sanctioned 77 Indiramma houses,” he said. At Ravikampadu, Srinivas Reddy performed the bhoomi puja for CC road works estimated at Rs 20 lakh. Addressing the gathering during his visit to Chandrugonda mandal in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, he said the government’s priority was to ensure that welfare and development schemes reached the doorsteps of the poor, with a resolve to make the State free of thatched huts. Later, addressing a public meeting at Pokalagudem, the Minister said the government was committed to providing a secure roof over the heads of every eligible poor family.

“Our objective is to ensure that not a single poor family in Telangana is forced to live in a thatched hut,” he said, adding that the government had taken up construction of seven lakh Indiramma houses across the State in two phases.

“Of these, one lakh houses had been sanctioned specifically for Hyderabad,” he informed. “Under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the government had sought to strike a balance between welfare commitments and development,” he said.

The Minister also highlighted the government’s employment and women-centric welfare measures. “As many as 72,000 government posts had been filled during the first two years of the administration, while a notification had recently been issued to fill another 16,000 posts,” he said.

Additional Collector Venugopal, Kothagudem RDO Madhu, Chandrugonda Tahsildar Jagadeeswara Prasad, DPO Anusha, the Housing Department Project Director, local representatives, district officials, members of women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and villagers attended the programmes.
