A XII Additional Court has sentenced a 26-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering a woman and attempting to kill her daughter in Miyapur in December 2022. According to police, the accused was identified as Yeddu Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Kollur in Guntur district. Based on the complaint filed by Vaibhavi, the accused had been harassing her after they fell in love in 2018 due to suspicion over her character.

Despite family intervention and blocking his contact details, he continued issuing threats.

During the investigation, police found that the complainant's family had shifted to Hyderabad owing to continuous harassment by the accused. The accused learned about Vaibhavi's engagement and allegedly planned to murder both her mother and her. On 13 December 2022, he entered her house armed with a knife and attacked both women. The mother succumbed to injuries on 14 December. The accused attempted suicide after the attack before being arrested on 23 December 2022, following which a charge sheet was filed.

After a complete trial, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs 10,000 for murder, 10 years rigorous imprisonment with a Rs 10,000 fine for attempt to murder, and three months simple imprisonment with a Rs 5,000 fine for house trespass.
