BRS leaders on Friday urged the Election Commission of India to implement the ‘one person one vote’ across the country and linking Aadhaar with voter ID. A delegation of BRS leaders led by Parliamentary Party Vaddiraju Ravichandra met Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar in New Delhi on Friday. Bringing to the notice of the CEC about suspected duplicate and multiple voter registrations identified during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026, the BRS leaders wanted together with certain other connected issues requiring immediate consideration.

The BRS leaders requested the Election Commission to utilise all available scientific and technological tools, including Aadhaar-enabled verification wherever legally permissible, de-duplication software, Artificial Intelligence-assisted matching, facial recognition-assisted verification, GIS-based verification and other advanced technological solutions, in addition to field verification through the statutory machinery.

Such an integrated approach would substantially strengthen the accuracy, purity, transparency and credibility of the electoral rolls and reinforce public confidence in the electoral process.

The BRS leaders said that the Commission should verify and delete duplicate and multiple voter registrations strictly in accordance with law after conducting due verification.

Utilise all available scientific and technological tools, including Aadhaar-enabled verification wherever legally permissible, de-duplication software, Artificial Intelligence-assisted matching, facial recognition-assisted verification, GIS-based verification and other advanced technological solutions together with field verification through the statutory machinery, for effective identification and elimination of duplicate and multiple voter registrations.

Ensure that no genuine elector is deprived of his or her valuable constitutional and statutory right to vote on account of any procedural deficiency, inadvertent error, incomplete verification or mistaken identity.

The party leaders further urged the ECI to continue to conduct the SIR in a transparent, fair, participative, scientific and legally sustainable manner so as to ensure preparation of a pure, accurate, error-free and credible electoral roll.
