ChiefElectoral Officer (CEO) C Sudharshan Reddy said on Thursday that the voters who do not submit their enumeration forms during the SIR process will not get the voting right.

The CEO also clarified that the Rohingyas living in the city would also be given the enumeration forms and issued notices. The EROs will be asked to be extra cautious while dealing with these cases. The CEO made these comments while participating in the ‘Meet the Press’ organised by the Press Club, Hyderabad on Friday. Sudharshan Reddy said awareness about SIR was essential in both urban and rural areas. Voters who had not received enumeration forms should immediately contact their BLOs. He reiterated that deletion of a voter’s name was not an easy process and that it can be done only after following all prescribed parameters, issuing notices, and recording valid reasons.

Aggrieved voters can also appeal before the District Collector.

SIR is a comprehensive exercise involving the preparation of fresh electoral rolls and is aimed at ensuring a clean and accurate voters' list by removing the names of deceased, shifted, and ineligible voters, and not at deleting the names of genuine electors, he explained.

The CEO said that enumeration forms were being distributed to all voters enrolled up to July 26, and acknowledgements were being issued upon submission.
