Agricultureminister K Atchannaidu on Friday said the government has ensured abundant fertiliser supplies for the ongoing kharif season, with buffer stocks in place to prevent any shortages for farmers.

By July 10, the state had 3.70 lakh metric tonnes of urea and 0.90 lakh metric tonnes of DAP available. The minister said in a statement district‑wise buffer stocks have been stored in Markfed warehouses, with officials monitoring supplies daily and moving additional fertiliser wherever needed.

Currently, 3,69,646 metric tonnes of urea are in stock, covering nearly 85% of seasonal demand, while 85,683 metric tonnes of DAP meet about 64% of requirements. Fresh consignments continue to arrive, ensuring uninterrupted distribution.

Atchannaidu also addressed a recent incident at Sankili Rythu Seva Kendra in Vizianagaram district. He explained that while initial demand was for 811 bags of urea, extra demand arose when farmers gathered in large numbers.

The government immediately arranged 444 additional bags from a nearby centre the same day. Distribution was streamlined with token and queue systems, he added.

The minister said Vizianagaram district currently holds 9,987 metric tonnes of urea, including 4,850 tonnes as buffer stock.

He dismissed rumours of shortages as false propaganda driven by vested interests, urging farmers not to believe such claims.

“The government is fully alert. Farmers will not face any difficulties. Supplies are being monitored daily, and stocks are moved instantly wherever needed,” Atchannaidu assured.

He reiterated that the administration is committed to farmer welfare and will continue transparent, timely fertiliser distribution across the state.
