TheBapatla town police conducted a special awareness programme on women and child safety at Dr BR Ambedkar Gurukul School here on Friday.

Women police station inspector S Subbarao led the programme along with the headquarters Shakti team, and about 120 students and NCC cadets took part with enthusiasm. ‘Subbarao explained how to install and use the Shakti app on smartphones, which was designed for women’s safety. He also explained cyber fraud happening in society and precautions to avoid it. He said the district police remain alert for women’s safety and asked students to approach the police without fear.

The inspector explained important helpline numbers, including 112 for emergencies, 181 for domestic violence and harassment, 1098 for Childline services, and 1930 for cybercrime complaints. Shakti team SI Ch Chandravathi, Bapatla Mahila Samakhya president Kola Padmaja, and school principal KV Padmavathi also participated in the programme.
